The state Director General, Pension Bureau, Abdullahi Sani-Oseze, disclosed this at the flag up of phase one payment exercise in Lafia, explaining that this was in consonance with Governor Tanko Umaru Al-makura’s promise made during the worker’s day celebration.

The DG further stated that first phase of the disbursements which already commenced on Monday 13th and would last on the 18th May 2018, adding that it will go along way in ameliorating the stress being faced by retirees in the state.

“For this first phase, N130 million was released and would only take care of four ministries.

“Only retirees from the ministry of Agriculture, Finance, Nasarawa State Urban Development Board and Internal Revenue Board would benefit,” he added.

He further stated that the first phase of the payment is only meant for those who retired from the state government with no inclusion of Local Government (LG) retirees, assuring various LG retirees of benefiting in the subsequent phase.

Oseze, therefore, called on all retirees to check their names on notice board at the bureau or The Nation Newspaper of May 13 for detail of schedules.

Meanwhile, Thomas Ogiri, Chairman of the Committee of payment of gratuity and death benefits assured the retirees that they would soon get all their benefits.

Ogiri, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Establishment and Industrial Matters, appreciated the retirees for their continue understanding as the government strive to pay their benefits despite dwindling resources.

Information revealed that the disbursement exercise is being monitored by the representatives of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners and Nigeria Labour Congress.
