NASARAWA STATE GOVERNOR CALLS FOR MORE FEDERAL HIGH COURTS IN THE STATE.

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has called for more Federal High Courts to be stationed in Nasarawa to serve the ever growing population of the state as well as provide quick justice to the people.

Gov. Almakura made the call during courtesy visit by the members of 31st Annual Judges Conference currently holding in Nasarawa State which brought sitting and retired Federal High Court Judges to Nasarawa State to attend the conference led by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice Ibrahim Auta.

Gov. Almakura said that being a believer in the courts and rule of law there was a need that with the recent population explosion in the state and the closeness to the FCT there was need for another federal High court within the Karu Corridor to carter for the over one million people living there. He hopes the Chief Judge would be able to look into the request and consider making it possible.

He used the opportunity to make it clear that the state had in no way collected the bailout funds which he said were still with the CBN, also stating that the State had no problem paying its workers as the problem was with the local Government Councils which the state had no control over their funding .

Speaking earlier, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court commended the Governor and the people of Nasarawa State for hospitality they has showed them.

He said it was the 31st conference, but it was the first legal conference in this regime, the essence of the conference was for them to meet and talk about how they could move the profession forward, using lectures and papers .

Lastly , he made it known that the meeting was moved each year to enable them all know and see the country.
