Gov. Al-Makura holds Expanded Exco , dissolves political appointees, Commissioners to stay in Office till 29th

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has directed the Hon. Commissioners and Members of the Executive Council to submit their handover note to him on Monday 20th May 2019 and hold their office to between 10 and 11 am on May 29th , 2019.

He disclosed this at an expanded executive council meeting with all political appointees, the Governor Elect and Deputy Governor Elect in attendance at the Council Chamber of the Government House Lafia

He thanked them all for the parts they played in his administrations successes , stating that without each of them it would not have been the same , describing them as the people that made it happen , appreciating their value as a team to salvage Nasarawa state as well as bringing on an accomplished technocrat and a global citizen.

Governor Almakura stated that as the administration bow out to take its exit in two weeks, one will find out that the government discharged its responsibilities credibly and also we are very comfortable and happy that the transition is to one of us who believes in the vision to take Nasarawa to the glory land.

He further announced that as the Commissioners were to submit their handing over note on Monday 20th , however , stated with heavy heart, he announced the dissolution of all other political appointees which include Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants except for those occupying critical offices.

Speaking at the meeting the Governor-Elect, said he felt so honored that his Deputy and Himself were allowed to be part of the meeting and even given the chance to say something. Engineer Abdullahi stated that he sat there quietly and listened to all the emotional statements made and the way Governor Almakura carried all his political appointees along which was a listening point for him and his colleague and also the statement that made by Governor Almakura that “We are building another "ANC” which he takes it deeply to mean that the administration does not end there and or a movement that ends with political appointment.

He further stated that he would like everyone to see the present government when it came into power in 2011,is a gradually process that has been built and continue to co-opt more and more that made the movement what it is today. He said he will like all to continue to support as members of the movement irrespective of the positions one holds.

Engr. Sule stated that since an adviser is a political appointee, they were all automatic advisers to the incoming government , calling on them to advise and continue to guide them .

He gave the example of Sen. Tinubu and Gov. Ambode in Lagos and how they fell apart costing the Governor His Second tenure calling the people in the room not to tear them apart , he pleaded with the people in the room to find ways to strengthen the relationship and not break it , stating that Gov. Al-Makura was a human being that may have offended some persons and may have done some things that are not hundred percent in line but he did everything with good intentions .

In his vote of thanks David Aeywa on behalf of all appointees thanked the Governor for the chance to serve and the confidence he reposed in all of them to serve the state .

One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of a gift to Gov. Al-Makura from the Personal Assistants (P.A.s) spearheaded by Azige Louis Machue who assured the Governor of their support and confidence appreciating the opportunity given to work under him.
