His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has highlighted security as being in the forefront of the agenda of the Nasarawa State Government , describing security as being in the vantage position of the state as regards the operations of the Officers and men of the Nasarawa state Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) .
Governor Almakura disclosed this at the Passing Out Parade POP of five thousand nine hundred men of the Nasarawa state Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) and the Nigerian Vigilante Group (VGN) who had completed training in Intelligence / Detective , Self –Defence , Assets/ Access Control and Arrest Techniques carried out in Collaboration with Nasarawa State Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The Governor state he was happy to be at the passing out due to the sense of accomplishment in increasing the viability and capacity of our security organisations , stating that security was the most important priority of any worthwhile government as is constitutional stated .
He further spoke on how the Nasarawa State Government had concentrated its attention to ensure that all security services and operations meet certain basic standards and best practices , by ensuring the provision of necessary logistics such as ultra-modern head offices for the Police , Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Road Safety , as well as the provision of operational vehicles to ensure the security services in the state are not hindered by any lack of operational tools.
He highlighted other areas of collaboration by the state to enhance the services of NAYES which came from the Road Safety Corps , Forest Guards and the sanitary inspectors all with the bid to ensure NAYES could achieve the purpose which the scheme established for.
In affirmation of his administration’s commitment to further guarantee the safety of lives and property in the state , the Governor reassured of the desire to weed out criminal elements in the society with a renewed call against the proliferation of arms and ammunition.
Earlier, Command General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps. Abdullahi Gana Mohammed represented by his deputy Ahmed Mohammed Jega lauded Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura for giving impetus to issues of security .
The Deputy Commandant noted that the training has further prepared the NAYES Marshalls and the Villante Group the opportunity to carry out the professional duties efficiently, and was further stated by the Nasarawa state Commandant of the NSCDC Mahmud Fari.
