His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has commended the Honourable Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola, for commencing monthly meetings with stakeholders in states around the country appreciating the huge success and attention the President Mohammadu Buhari led administration had given the power sector..
Governor Almakura equally thanked the Minister for making out time to personally come to the Nasarawa state leg of the their monthly power meetings, also congratulating him for the inactive where all National stakeholders in the power sector localise their meetings with a view to addressing the challenges and problems of power there, stating that it would bring them close to the problems .
Gov. Almakura made this known when the Minister paid a courtesy call on him at the Government House Lafia , as a prelude to the Monthly Power Sector meeting which is in furtherance of the minister’s determination to identify, discuss and find practicable solutions to issues facing the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) with relevant stakeholders.
The Governor thanked the President , the Vice President and the Ministry of Power , Works and housing or making it possible for the state to also benefit from the robust infrastructure 330 KVA, which would help turn around the economy of the state.
Governor Almakura used the opportunity to inform the Minister that Nasarawa state was providing every Nigerian the chance to own a home within the vicinity of the Federal capital , stating that they were in talks with the minister to see how they would collaborate in the area of mass housing.
Lastly Governor Almakura spoke on the new Kwandere – Keffi 65 km road which the state had embarked upon which would save time traveling as well as open up economic activity.
Honourable Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola commended Nasarawa State for hosting the 23rd Monthly Power Sector Meeting , he state that the ministry of power works and housing was engaged on many fronts in Nasarawa state such the Federal Secretariat project and the expansion of the Akwanga , Lafia road to Jos which the financing agreement was recently concluded , and thanks to Governor Almakura they were engaged in Housing where work was going on the pilot housing programme, as well as partnering with a company to carry out solar electrification in the state.
The Minister explained that what brought them today was the monthly Power meeting where they would look at some of the issues of power of the host state.
There is a general consensus among operators that the monthly meetings have helped in resolving pressing issues and added value to stakeholders in the power sector towards meeting the power needs of Nigerians.
