Briefs from: the meeting between His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura and Trader Associations to discuss the recent relocation of Traders to the Lafia New Market.

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura started the meeting by thanking the traders who were well represented for peacefully complying to the Government directives by moving from the over 70 year old Market to the New Market . He assured them that they would have no regrets, as the government would work with them to ensure their success in the new market.

Governor Almakura made this known during a follow-up meeting with Traders which was conveyed to look into any challenges that they might have faced during and after the relocation , where the Governor and other highly placed officials would hear directly for the representatives of the traders.

He assured them that as the biggest support base in 2011 and 2015, Government would not do anything that would not be for their benefit and that of the good people of the State. He debunked rumors that the government has other motives toward the relocation of the traders, other than the need for good hygiene and restructuring of the markets in the state capital to serve the needs the people better.

He requested for a list of genuine traders that did not get shops at the new market, stating that they would be given priority in the allocation at the Lafia International Market, which would be advertised next week, and opened before the end of the year.

In their contributions the traders commended the Administrationís efforts as they spoke on the problems needed to addressed in the new market , which the Governor said would be worked on to ensure maximum efficiency of the markets.
