His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura at the National Stakeholders Retreat on Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where he was the key speaker at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, alongside Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (Former Deputy-Governor of Lagos State) and His Royal Highness the Emir of Keffi Dr. Shehu Usman Yamusa. Also in attendance was the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Where the Governor spoke on the theme: ‘Multi Level Partnerships for Effective Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ and wowed the audience with the efforts he had been doing toward ensuring the underprivileged and disabled were carried along , explaining his efforts towards opening Comprehensive Schools of learning for all disabled persons and their inclusiveness in government which was in line with the message of “Leaving No One Behind”.
The main message was the need for all stakeholders in both the private and public sectors to collaborate towards achieving the 17 SDG goals which have 169 targets which is hoped to be achieved in 15 years. With calls for proper data and records and a need to shift focus to the grassroots and ensure participation at the Local Government levels.
