Nasarawa State Government Receives Report on Establishment of Nasarawa State Institute of Technical Education, Lafia. NAYES Participants to Now Undergo Technical Education.

The Nasarawa State Deputy Governor has made it known that the state government was to make it mandatory for all NAYES participants to partake in an area of technical education to boost their capacity and allow them get some on the job educational training which would encourage youths around the state on the need for technical education .

His Excellency Silas Ali Agara made this known as he received the Report Of The Joint Technical Committee For The Establishment Of The Nasarawa State Institute Of Technical Education, Lafia from the Committee led by its Chairman Prof Jonathan Mamu Ayuba at his Office.

Hon. Agara stated that since the signing of the bilateral agreement with the Singaporean Institute of Technical Education in 2012 ,the vision of the state Government was to replicate the same here in Nasarawa to enable the youth get advance technical education and create skilled well trained workforce in some technical areas available.
He commended the committee for working within the one month time-frame allocated stating that their keeping to time was an attribute that shows the seriousness in the committee.

He assured that the Government would look into the report towards the construction and setting up of the Lafia Institute of Technical Education further stating that a draft bill was being worked on , which would soon be sent to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly to have the legal frame to ensure it takes off on the right footing.
The Chairman of the Joint Committee Prof. Jonathan Mamu Ayuba thanked the state government for finding them worthy to carry out such an important issue.

The Chairman made it known that their hope and prayer was that the state Government would find the findings, observations and recommendations contained in the Report useful to achieve the purpose of setting up the Lafia Institute of Technical Education which the committee was set up for.

The Committee’s Mandate were:

Advise on modalities for establishment and smooth take off of the Nasarawa State Institute of Technical Education:

Determine the management structure , functions and organogram of the Agency :

Develop the curriculum and syllabi for the institute in accordance with the Economic Empowerment Policy :

Direction of the Administration as well as the requirement of Regulatory Bodies of Technical Education:

Determine the essential machinery , equipment and personnel required for the smooth take off of the institute:

Advise on the sustainability of the partnership between Nasarawa state Government and the Institute of Technical Education Singapore, as well as collaboration with the National Agency for Science & Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for the attainment of the goals and objectives for the establishment of the Institute of Technical Education:
Advise Government on the implementation of the MOU signed in 2012 between Nasarawa state Government and NASENI on the establishment of Solid Minerals Machinery & Equipment Development Institute (SOMMEDI)
