Signing Ceremony of the Deed of Acquisition , Lease and Development Agreement between Nasarawa State Government and Dangote Sugar Refinery PLC for the 60,000 ha of land acquired for Sugar Production Backward Integration Project. (Cane Plantation and Refinery) at Tunga, Awe LGA., Nasarawa State.

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has described the agreement signing with the Dangote Group as a fall out of deliberate Government Policies to attract private investment by providing avenues for ease of doing business and complement the faith Dangote Group have in the potentials of the Nasarawa State.

Gov. Almakura made this known while delivering his speech at the Nasarawa State /Dangote Tunga Sugar Signing Ceremony which took place at the Sugar House Abuja.

The Governor used the opportunity to state some of the activities the Nasarawa State government had encouraged to create a necessary secured environment for private investment to thrive in the state. He also stated the enormous investment in the provision of essential infrastructures that would boost economic activities and the general welfare of the citizens as well as support any investment coming to the state.

Speaking on the huge opportunities found in the state Gov. Almakura focused on the the investment in real estate development through the provision of 13,000 hectares Gurku Kabusa Master plan which was adjacent the Aso Rock , just as Maryland is to DC.

Gov. Almakura expressed appreciation to the Dangote Group for finding Nasarawa State attractive for this multibillion Naira investment and in the same vein he thanked the entire Tunga Community for the enthusiasm and commitment shown towards the take off of this project.

Lastly, Gov. Almakura beckoned other potential investors to the state , reminding them that Nasarawa State was open and always available for more business.

The President /CEO of the Dangote Group, Alh. Aliko Dangote explained that they had aligned ourselves with the present governments policies of diversifying the economy , by a renewed focus on the nonoil sectors like manufacturing , agriculture and solid minerals , which they are well positioned in today and are leaders in all three sectors.

Alh. Aliko Dangote said Agriculture was a key sector in the industrialization of any nation , therefore Dangote Group in support of the Federal Governments Agenda developed a backward integration project plan targeted at the production of 1.5 MT/PA from various site across Nigeria in the next 10 years Stating that their target for sugar production was to produce 1.8 million tons of white sugar in the next five years.
He singled out Gov. Almakura for the singlehandedly mobilizing necessary stakeholders towards creating and remarkable enable environment that acttracted them to undertake the huge investment in the state at such short notice . He made it known that Governor Almakura removed all trhe traditional hurdles and road blocks usually experienced . which enabled them to commit and have so fare achieved min three months what normally takes two years in other states.

Alh. Aliko Dangote was then presented with the title of the Jariman Tunga by HRH the Emir of Tunga Alh . Ibrahim Galadima on behalf of the community , which was the first time such a title was give to the Dangote Group president .

The signing to the agreement seals the deal for the between the Nasarawa State Government and Dangote conglomerate proposed N217 billion (700million dollars) sugar plantation and refineries in Nasarawa state, which would create over 30,000 jobs and generate 96 mega watts of power to be used by the estate , the state and the nation.
