Nasarawa to Upgrade Health System with Multi-functional Medical Complex

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has disclosed that Nasarawa State was currently putting together the vital components that would enable the state provide comprehensive solutions to many health challenges across Nigeria.

Gov. Almakura who spoke to the Press following an inspection of the ongoing construction of a Sophisticated Diagnostic Center located behind the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital , disclosed that the Medical Complex planned by the State Government would service various aspects of medical needs. starting with the expansion of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital which is being expanded to serve as a center for clinical studies.

Gov. Almakura further explaining that the state government would also provide accommodation for resident doctors and consultants that would be working in the Specialist Hospital.

The Governor stated that a state of the arts diagnostic laboratory , which would be one of the very few in the country , following a collaboration with the Centre for Disease Control which would provide extensive tests of high level diseases such as Ebola , which the state has just been removed from the list, the center would test for Lassa fever and other communicable diseases .

He stated that the essence of immunization starts with a proper diagnostic center so assess the status of the people, when it comes to very serious and sensitive diseases which was why the state was paying attention to building a center that would cost about one billion Naira.

He said that right now the building was at the foundation stage, which was the most difficult part of the construction and when completed the structure would rise fast, targeting it's completion and put to use by the end of the 2018.

Lastly he disclosed that they were also making provision for the School of Nursing to move within the complex , so as to have all the complementary services sited nearby providing an effective health system , which would have the Specialist Hospital , Medical Students (clinicals) , the School of Nursing and the Sophisticated Diagnostic Center , which all put together Lafia even without a teaching hospital could handle some of the most disturbing health challenges.
