Gov. Almakura Receives Sen. Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, Vows to ensure Nasarawa women get FG Loans.

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has given his assurance toward ensuring that the women of Nasarawa State get the Federal Government empowerment loans to be provided by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration in fulfillment of the 2015 campaign promises to the people.

Governor Almakura who made this known as he received the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan and her entourage at the Government House Lafia.

The Governor who understood the vulnerability of women and children who were always in a disadvantaged position made it known that the issue of women and youth would be included in the 2017 budget for support from government.

Regretting the hardship being faced by women, the governor assured that his administration would ensure that the women benefit from the presidential initiative aimed at building capacity of women in the country, as well as ensure it reaches the women in the rural areas.

Speaking Earlier, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Sen. Aisha Alhassan explained she was in Lafia on an advocacy and sensitization mission to drive forth the Presidential in initiative on women empowerment.

Where the Minister made it known that due to the industrious nature of the Nasarawa woman, Nasarawa State along with seven other states would benefit from a one point six billion Naira separate scheme under the National Women Empowerment Programme known as “Jarin Mata”.

She also said the state would also benefit from a nationwide programme Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP) , she emphasized that the loans would be collateral and interest free and would be made available for persons in the rural areas to get equal benefit.

The Minister made a case for the domestication of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act and the compliance to the Childs Right Act which the state had passed.

Lastly, the Minister lauded Gov. Almakura for the giant strides he had done in the state and the largescale physical transformation the state had undergone since he came to office amidst scarce resources . She urged him to ensure he sustains the tempo .
