His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule attends the proceeding of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting for the adoption of final written addressee by parties involved in the case.
His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State presided over the distribution of 2,400 of 7.5kg bags and 1000 bags of 50kg rice with 5000 Naira each to vulnerable households in Kokona LGA to cushion the hardship over the removal of fuel subsidy.
The rice and cash are part of palliatives designed to cover 1000 selected vulnerable households in each Local Government Area.
At a time when the led are getting disillusioned with the quality of leadership in the country, one man stands tall in his continous efforts to deliver exceptional leadership that is hinged on the principles of probity, accountability, transparency and the fear of God.
His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has continued to demonstrate impeccable character and sterling leadership, albeit in a circumstance so full of misconception and doubt about the quality of leadership.
This is not the first time he is showing that he is indeed different and that he came to serve the people by ensuring that the right things are done.
After accompanying former president Muhammdu Buhari to the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Engineer Sule who returned to the state after spending five days in the Ujited States, returned his DTA for three days, becaise the UNGA event lasted for only two days. The remaining three days, the Govrrnor spent on his private business. Engineer Sule will not take money belonging to Nasarawa State to run his private business, so he returned the money to the coffers of government.
Now, Engineer Sule has done it again!
He has just returned from a trip to Rwanda, where he attended a leadership workshop sponsored by United Nation’s Development Programme (UNDP). On returning to the state, Engineer Sule, being the God fearing leader that he is, returned one hundred percent of his Duty Travel Allowance, because the UNDP paid for all his expenses.
Engineer Sule, who appeared as a guest on NTA Good Morning Nigeria, on Tuesday, said he returned the money because he had no need for the money. “There has been a lot of commentaries recently on the Kigali trip. The Kigali event was actually a United Nation’s development UNDP event. It was not Nigerian Governors Forum event. But the UNDP couldn’t have done it without consultations with the NGF. And was purely for the first time Governors to come and learn about leadership.
“The UNDP decided they will take it to a country where at least there is some semblance of leadership working. And that is Rwanda and nobody could argue with that. Secondly, there has been lots of comments on the social media on stipends.
“Take me for instance, in Nasarawa State. When I was going I received some Duty Travel Allowance (DTA) for hotel accommodation and others. When I got to Rwanda, I realized the UNDP has paid everything one hundred percent. When I returned home, I returned all the money to the coffers of the state government. We didn’t spend anything because the UNDP decided to take care of our stay in Kigali ” he stated. While detractors and political jobbers will continue to doubt, we that are his supporters, admirers and who work for His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, will always appreciate him for standing out by making a difference.
Prominent sons and daughters of the state including the national legal adviser of APC, Abdulkharim Kana, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, commissioner of Environmental some politicians and Principal Officers to the Governor were at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Abuja to welcome the Governor.
In what is seen as a bold move towards replacing petrol with gas, Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has performed the groundbreaking for a two million dollars LNG and L-CNG facility in Shabu area of Lafia, the state capital.
Engineer Sule performed the groundbreaking breaking ceremony for Greenville LNG and L-CNG facility, on Wednesday.
In a speech during the event, the Governor expressed optimism that Greenville, owned by private investors, is bringing alternative and cheaper energy sources, especially at a time when the cost of petrol is soaring higher following the removal of fuel subsidy.
He particularly expressed hope that the gas project will lead to the convertion of petrol engines to gas, especially for heavy-duty trucks, as well as smaller vehicles such as commercial motorcycles.
The Governor mentioned how countries like Brazil are exploiting clean energy to drive their economies.
He used the opportunity of the event to speak on what his administration put on ground to evolve synergy between Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), which is making it possible for private investors to come into the state to invest their money.
“We came in and met two situations on ground. The first situation is that a lot of land have been bought by investors who were looking for certificate of occupancy in order for them to be able to go and raise money from the banks in order to expand the businesses and employ our people but they didn’t get it.
“Secondly, we had a lot of people, indigenes of Nassarawa State that have bought so many lands and were waiting for certificates so that they can be able to access small loans here and there and to be able to carry on their businesses but they couldn’t get.
“That is the reason why in the past four years, I spent sleepless nights in checking the documents and signing the certificates so that our people will be able to go about their businesses.
“These are the two basic reasons driving me to sign these certificates. In fact, this particular certificate that I gave right now, I only signed it yesterday along with 300 other certificates,” he stated.
Engineer Sule spoke on how his administration went through a lot to sign an agreement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) for the effective utilization of the available gas resources in the state.
“We had a summit that attracted companies like Greenville to come in and see the opportunities that we have in Nasarawa State. We had the various agencies, we had what we call the Ease of Doing Business for these various MDAs to come together to understand that to attract investment you need to be able to provide the environment that is there,” he added.
On his part, the Managing Director of Greenville LNG, Ritu Sahajwalla, who was represented at the event by the Director of Administration of the company, Joseph Oyadoyin, pointed out that the project will further crystalize the industrialization drive of Governor Sule as it will bring more in investment to the state.
“Our project will bring numerous benefits to the host community, starting with the creation of employment opportunities. We understand the importance of job creation and economic empowerment, and we have tried to contribute to the further crystallization of investments in this area,” the MD said.
Sahajwalla said the recent derrugulation of the petroleum industry has emphasized the urgent need for alternative and cleaner energy sources, with the timing for his company’s LNG and L-CNG apt as it provides a solution to the high petrol prices that is burdening the common man, ensuring stability and affordability of gas.
“You can convert your small generator. You can use the LNG to power it. Then your vehicle that is using petrol based on the capacity, through conversion kit, you can use LNG to power the vehicle,” he added.
Sahajwalla disclosed that the company will establish another facility in Karu Local Government Area after the completion of the first project in Lafia.
Earlier, in a welcome address, Managing Director/CEO, Nasarawa Investment Development Agency (NASIDA), Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the two million US dollars investment by Greenville LNG is the first of its kind in the North Central region of the country and has 23 metric tonnes capacity of LNG and 1,500 SCM of L-CNG.
Abdullahi added that the project will usher in the introduction of LNG and LCNG usage for heavy-duty trucks as well as smaller vehicles such as automobiles and Keke NAPEP in the region as fuel prices has skyrocketed since the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in May.
The NASIDA MD described the groundbreaking as a testimony of Engineer Sule’s vision to industrialize Nasarawa State.
“Nigeria is a gas producing country distracted by oil production. Today, with the groundbreaking of this facility, you are ushering in the development of a major facility that will help in promoting clean energy and add up to Nigeria’s quest for a just energy transition,” he said.
The ceremony witnessed the official handover of the certificate of occupancy for the project which was facilitated by the NASIDA, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Nasarawa State Government and Greenville LNG in November last year
Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has sworn-in the reappointed Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu, seven newly appointed permanent secretaries, as well as two members of the Nasarawa State Judiciary Service Commission.
Administering the oath of office to the appointees, at a colourful ceremony at the Government House, on Tuesday, Engineer Sule charged them to quickly to settle down to their new assignments while also enjoined them to be innovative and make valuable contributions to enable the government achieve its development objectives.
Speaking on why he reappointed Barrister Ubandoma as SSG, the Governor said the office of the SSG is the nucleus of government which requires the occcupant to be a person with outstanding record of performance, commitment, dedication, hard work, loyalty, proven integrity and exemplary antecedence.
“Let me state that, for all intent and purposes, these were the considerations that informed our decision to reappointing Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu as the SSG for the second time.
“We did it in order to provide the link and to serve as a bridge for continuity in policy implementation and programmes execution, having been part of the administration from the beginning.
“Let me also state without any ambiguity that Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu while occupying this very important office during our first tenure, has proven his administrative acumen in the discharge of his duty and as a result oriented personality in the governance of Nasarawa State,” he stated.
On the newly appointed permanent secretaries, whose appointments became necessary following vacancies created by retirement, Engineer Sule said it was also part of the resolve of his administration to invigorate the civil service for enhanced performance and higher productivity.
He explained that, considering the strategic position which the civil service occupy, his administration exercised due diligence in the appointment of the new permanent secretaries taking into cognizance hard work, experience, commitment, competence, sacrifice and above all, loyalty of these appointees.
“I trust that you will justify the confidence government reposed in everyone of you. I need to emphasize that, as accounting officers it behooves on you to acquaint yourselves with the financial regulations and public procurement act. You must endeavor to ensure budgetary discipline and prudence in the management of public resources,” the Governor tasked the new permanent secretaries.
While urging them eschew corruption in all its ramifications in line with the posture of his administration, Engineer Sule maintained that this is the only way that scarce government resources will be judiciously utilized and channeled towards provisions of basic infrastructure for the benefit of the people.
“Let me therefore congratulate you on your well deserved elevation. There is no doubt that your appointments come at a right time considering the fact that this administration has renewed its covenant to massively transform our dear state for growth and prosperity.
“I believe that with your antecedence and pedigree, you will add more energy in the implementation of government policies and programmes for socio-economic development of our state,” he added.
Similarly, Engineer Sule explained that the swearing-in of some of the members of the state judicial service commission, was meant to fill vacancies created in the commission in line with the constitutional provision, geared towards strengthening the judiciary in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
“As you are aware the judicial service commission is a statutorily body responsible for the appointment, training, promotion, and discipline, including welfare of the personnel of the judiciary for effective service delivery,” he stated.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the appointees, Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Barrister Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu thanked Engineer Sule for finding them worthy of appointment into the various positions.
Barrister Ubandoma assured the Governor of their maximum support and cooperation towards making the administration succeed in its responsibility.
“As appointees of this government, we shall continue to give you the maximum support desired and to continue to bring our wealth of experience in the governance of the state, taking into account your principles of transparency, accountability and prudent management of government resources,” the SSG added.
The event was witnessed by the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, top government functionaries, traditional rulers, friends and relations of the appointees.
